After an intense online vote, Spain’s Bahia de Portman has been revealed as the winner of the Corona Save the Beach campaign.
Bahia de Portman faced stiff competition from two other Italian beaches, Augusta and Capojale, throughout, edging in front on the stroke of midnight.
Final figures revealed how close the competition was with Bahia de Portman finishing with 36.95% of votes compared with the 36.25% of Augusta. Capojale finished third with 19.6% of the votes, while the closest of the chasing pack was Habana in Spain with 3.8% of the vote.
Corona Save the Beach aims to tackle the obvious neglect and abandonment of the winning beach, with idle waste a massive problem for beach-goers and swimmers alike. On the 25th of September a team of Save the Beach volunteers will begin their quest to save Bahia de Portman.
From all of us at Save the Beach, we’d like to say a huge thank you to all those that submitted entries and hopefully we can help save more in the future.
