This coming Sunday sees The Mall in London play host to a rally of the world’s most innovative electric vehicles complete with pit stops and stunts at world’s first ever free Eco-Car Spectacular.

Petrol-heads with a conscience can expect to see a selection of racing supercars, nippy runabouts, groovy scooters and hardcore bikes making their way down the avenue to Buckingham Palace. The Eco-Car Spectacular takes place during The Prince of Wales ‘A Garden Party to Make A Difference’ and will feature such stars as Jodie Kidd, Dame Ellen MacArthur and BBC’s Dragon, James Caan. The initiative is being supported by Prince Charles’ environmental charity Start and organised by Roger Saul, creator and former chairman of British fashion brand Mulberry.

The aim of the Garden Party itself, the Eco-Car event being part of it, is to make green issues and sustainability fun. Visitors will come face to face with a vast Earth Pavilion made with mud tiles as well as an array of giant, colourful installations, whilst they’re also afforded the opportunity to interact and take part in a wide variety of workshops. Additionally, a string of debates, music and comedy have been lined up with participants donating their time and services to ‘Start’.
