HA Schult is an artist and sculptor from Germany who has achieved international recognition for his object and performance art and more specifically his work with rubbish. He came to prominence following the creation of a paper river in New York, which he constructed using only old issues of the New York Times.
Schult is one of the world’s leading proponents in “art action” and his creations have been displayed across the globe. His iconic ‘Trash Men’ have graced the world’s foremost landmarks including the Great Wall of China, Moscow’s Red Square and the pyramids of Egypt.
When it came to building the world’s first “rubbish” hotel, there was only one man to turn to – Schult! You can see the finished article come to life on the 3rd of June when the Corona Save the Beach Hotel sets up in Rome!
Check out our interview with the man himself here, shot at his studio in Cologne…
