Even though the human being generates tons of trash, much of it is not recycled. Where does this garbage end up? In the rivers, oceans, beaches…
The trash art is an artistic expression aimed at creating a given concept out of the wasted materials our society throws away. A good way to reuse them as well as to represent a reality, doesn’t it?
A game of shadows defines the work of art of Tim Noble and Sue Webster. It is amazing how they mix garbage and light transforming them into genuine sculptures, silhouettes and figures, the typical elements of their work. They have created a particular style that perfectly defines their inner struggle and the concept they want to convey.
Curious isn’t it?
Using garbage as art; the kind of art that allows its creators to tell what they consider the actual facts: the ravages of our current consumer society. This is a way to reuse what does not work out for us anymore, which is no longer useful for us. We are talking about the culture of recycling.
These British artists use waste collected from the streets of London to build their pieces. The garbage seems to be randomly placed, forming a pile, but, when the light is projected onto this stack from a specific point, meaningful shadows appear before us.
Tim Noble and Sue Webster became acknowledged as world-class artists in the year 2000, after their masterpiece “Apocalypse” was exhibited at the Royal Academy of Art in London.
This artistic style does not have to resort to any subterfuge. If you want to get more information about Nobel and Webster’s work, we suggest visiting their website.
This is a very positive initiative that reflects a reality that is becoming more and more serious as the time passes. Would you like to join us to change it?
